Medical Aid Authorisation

  1. Supply Nuclear Med with a letter from referring doctor and the ICD 10 codes for the scan
  2. Phone medical aid for authorisation. Provide them with ICD 10 code as well as the approximate costs available above
  3. Provide Nuclear Med with medical aid authorisation number before/at patient’s appointment
  4. We will submit your account to your medical aid (the patient/person responsible for the account must follow up with their medical aid in order to ensure the account is settled accordingly or make necessary arrangements to settle the account)
  5. If the patient’s medical aid has a limited funds the patient will be expected to make payment for the remainder of the account before the scan
  6. Fees may differ due to price fluctuations in isotopes and medical aid allowances.

Private Patients

  1. Supply Nuclear Med with a letter from referring doctor
  2. Patient will be expected to make payment in full before scan

Please note: We charge the rates accepted by most medical aids, there are certain treatments that are not covered by medical aids. Please make sure to check with your medical aid before entering into treatment. Our accounts department can assist you to a certain extent, but the onus is on the person responsible for the account to follow up with their medical aid. It is up to you to get authorisation from your medical aid and send it through to us before commencing with treatment. Any short-payment by the medical aid will be payable by the person responsible for the account.
